Testing Frames

I downloaded this awesomesauce app yesterday called “Frames“. It basically makes a stop motion animation for you. You can just sit there, lazily clicking the capture image button over and over and it does all the hard stuff for you. So far I like it. This test animation is just a test! I’m not Michel Gondry or anything so RELAX. Also, my husband Michael made the baby heads. They are of us ˆ__ˆ

One of my top 5 favorite movies: Tampopo

I was reading a wonderful post over at Tofugu about one of my all time favorite movies: Tampopo. Even though the have a far more thoughtful and thorough review over at Tofugu I wanted to double up the efforts and be sure to get the word out.

Tampopo is about a woman who owns a failing noodle shop. A wise truck driver takes her under his wing to help get the shop back on it’s feet. They consult with a variety of specialists, go on covert noodle-espionage missions and do some intense noodle-prep training in the hopes of turning her situation around.

Between the key scenes of the main plot are small vignettes relating to food, the emotions they inspire, and how food and life are one in the same. These shorts are exceptional and complete the movie’s love affair with food.

The movie is a perfect formula Tammy movie:
Funny + sweet but not sappy + includes a clint eastwood style western hero + includes both a person AND an interior make over + has a training montage + IS ABOUT FOOD + touching without making me cry hysterically

Light House Film Festival 2011 and a Pink Gorilla

Lighthouse international Film festival is THIS WEEKEND! We’ve been working with them since they started 3 years ago creating their web site, programs and posters. Deanna is behind the design magic of these projects. Let’s take a little walk down typography memory lane of the 2009, 2010, and 2011 festival design.

This is real labor of love project for both Deanna and Mary. The morning after the program went to print the festival organizers were kind enough to send Deanna a singing gorilla gram. Let’s ALL watch and see just how red Deanna gets.

Aaron Koblin’s TED talk. Dreamy.

Watch Aaron Koblin summarize his latest data endeavors, including The Johnny Cash Project, The Sheep Market, and Radiohead’s “House of Cards” music video. Surely you’ve seen Arcade Fire’s “The Wilderness Downtown” Google Chrome project. Yep. This guy. He probably rides monster waves and saves kittens in his spare time. ♥

Here is a pop song for everyone

+++(◕ ◡ ◕ ) Matt’s Song Pick ( ✖_✖)+++
Ok I have to start of this week’s song pick with a warning. I might be sending you into a downward youtube spiral. There is a whole world not known well by the majority of the west and it’s very easy to get entranced by their slick, shiny, high energy, catchy music videos. I’m talking of course of Korean Pop. Now I don’t know much about k-pop but I do know from experience, that if you’re not careful, you’ll find yourself constantly humming annoying riffs and attempting to learn the choreography.

If you want to warm up I suggest watching these first:
Girl’s Generation – Gee
Super Junior – Sorry Sorry

If you want to dive on it:
Big Bang & 2ne1 – Lollipop

What is this? What are these outfits? Is this the 80′s? Is this the early 2000′s? What is with that one girl’s hair? When they sing the word “lollipop”, are they falling asleep? OH NO Korean rap! Is that a backstreet boy in the orange vest? Also I really want that blue Team Rocket cape. Overall, WOW.

Hello my new friends

My name is Matt! I am brand new to the company and I decided to start a weekly song post. Here goes nothing:

Today I wanted to share this french man I came across on one of those downward youtube spirals that usually end with you being disgusted with yourself. Fortunately this time I ended landing on some gold. I came across a man named Michel Sardou. He seems to me to be the dad of your friend, the friend who is constantly embarrassed by him but everyone outwardly loves. He plays harmonica like how I would imagine a pro plays and after watching, I think you’ll agree with me when I say he certainly is a pro at throwing together a video. He has an air of Herb Albert which makes me want to throw a party where I play only his videos. In recent videos he goes by Mick so let’s honor Mick and his harmonica abilities with my personal favorite “Alligator (Rock)”

The Dungeonmaster

I like dumb movies. A lot. Probably more than I should. So I’m going to torture you all by lazily posting about them on here from time to time.

Currently streaming on Netflix is The Dungeonmaster, one of many legitimately enjoyable artistic untriumphs by 80s crap-teur Charles Band that star either Richard Moll and/or Tim Thomerson.

As you’ll see from the trailer, The Dungeonmaster really wanted to be all things to all people: something they would like to have titled The Road Warrior Tron New York Ripper Electric Dreams D&D. Also there’s a demon puppet named Rathspit (sp?), some demon limb-chopping, and an EEEVVILLL heavy metal concert where Blackie Lawless slashes the hero with his guitar.

All of which you’d think would add up to one of the most metal movies of all time, except, you know, WASP is in it.

Our new site makes me feel like this.
