I HAVE A GOAL

Well, I went ahead and joined weight watchers… again. Perhaps this falls under the TMI category (remind me to add that category) but the time has come to shed some pounds. I’m two days in and doing ok. I can still have my coffee and my giant and delicious fakey ice cream cones. Things will be ok.

I just discovered (where have I been?) that Marimekko has a line of dresses and they are the bees knees. I am going to treat myself to this lovely dress when I get down to my target size. Then I am going to wear it all week long on my beach vacation in August whilst looking both adorable and hopefully also tan but not burnt. Don’t try to stop me!

Uuna Dress
the loveliest dress on the planet.

If I really do a good job I am going to buy two dresses.
Maybe you can help me decide which one.

1.  Kiuru

2. Pirke

Ok, if i got this dress I’d officially be dressing exactly like my 3 year old daughter.
Plus, this looks super short.

Wishing the streets were paved with Wanart!

Our dear friends at www.wanart.com sent us along some of their limited edition/rare placemats.  I took the placemats out to the sidewalk for a few photos and have decided that life would be much sweeter if our sidewalks were painted with wanart. There is nothing that warms my heart like a smiling stick of butter. My daughter loves their art, their characters (lil huggy monkeys Kiwi and Pear), and their iphone app. That app has saved the day more than once at the grocery store.  Video of Sadie “Reading” the placemat to come…”

Do You Love Books, Yet Accrue Hundreds of Dollars in Library Fines?

Me, too! There’s a solution, though, book-lovers. Watch as the Internet solves another one of life’s greatest annoyances! Imagine being able to trade books, movies, albums, video games over the internet for free* with strangers who have similarly awesome taste in media.

Well, it exists. Swap.com, formerly swaptree.com, has taken mom’s book clubs and luncheons and put them online, connecting you with peers that have the media you want. It’s fairly simple. Create an account, post the items you’re willing to trade to your account (easy as typing in an ISBN), make a list of the books, CDs, etc. you want to receive and let the algorithms do the rest for you. You’ll be notified via email when a match is found.

You know what else I hate? Going to the post office. One would think that’s an integral part of using this type of service, but nay, friends. You can pay for your postage and print it out through the site! *This is where the asterisk from the first paragraph is explained. The swapping is free, however you do pay the shipping costs of whatever you mail out (so, no giant hardcover Phaidon books, people, unless you’re getting something equally sweet in return).

Are you amazed? No? Okay, here’s my hard sell…after a year of using Swap.com’s services, my NYPL late fees have amounted to (drum roll)…two dollars and fifty cents! Incredible.

Prints To Love, Cherish, Buy

I love every last thing they’ve done…

Stumbled across Bee Things an illustration/prints/all things good studio. I absolutely Love everything they have posted on their site. That is Love with a capital “L“. Their website has a great gallery of their work and thank goodness they have an etsy store.
